The City of Canal Winchester, with Canal Winchester Senior Citizens, Inc. and VFW Post 10523 will host a Veterans March and Ceremony on Saturday November 7. The public and members of the media are invited to join veterans, city officials, and guests for this patriotic event.
Details: •Veterans March, 10:00 A.M.
A Veterans March will begin at Frances Steube Community Center’s 22 S. Trine St. entrance and continue onto East Waterloo between Trine and High Street, turning at S. High Street to end at Stradley Place.
•Veterans Ceremony, 10:30 A.M.
A Veterans Ceremony will be held at Stradley Place (located next to Canal Winchester Municipal Office Building at 36 S. High Street in downtown Canal Winchester)
The ceremony will include remarks from Warren Motts of Motts Military Museum, Mayor Michael Ebert, and guest speaker Major General John Harris. Other highlights will include a special performance of our National Anthem, 21 Gun Salute and the playing of Taps.
During September and October, event organizers request submissions of veteran photos, including name, service dates, and branch of service. Photos will be displayed in honorary window exhibits throughout the city’s downtown and highlighted during November 7 events. Please note: Photos submitted last year will be exhibited again and do not need to be resubmitted this year.
Photos should be copies of an original photo, show veterans or active military personnel in uniform, be no larger than 5x7 and include the following information on the back:
