Taiko Drumming Class

Taiko & Samba Drumming Workshop

The Taiko half of the workshop introduces Japan's vibrant festival drumming through movement, vocalization, and stance. Originally brought to Japan by Chinese Buddhist Monks, Taiko will teach history, culture, social contexts, creative expression, and communication.​​

The Samba portion of the workshop focuses on Brazil's Carnival percussion, teaching parade rhythms using instruments like Agogo, Tambourim, and Surdo. Participants will engage in observation, imitation, inquiry, and discussion, all while learning history, culture, social contexts, and creative expression.​

All ages/skill levels are welcome*

No previous experience required
